Rescue and help on many levels
When we are able, we do our best to provide more than just rescue: crisis help, medical needs, food, and temporary foster.

OHAR - Open Hands Animal Rescue
Unlike shelters OHAR - Open Hands Animal Rescue is a foster based rescue. We do our best take in animals during crisis such as: owner is in the hospital, domestic violence cases, medically needy cases (paralyzed dogs), owner foreclosed on etc. We assist with the community by providing vet care and food when we are able. We also assist in getting ESA dogs paired up with military, LEO, FD, and support. We do work with some service dog trainers as well. Just let us know! We currently have 6 puppies, 16 dogs up for adoption, one is Charlotte our 3 legged dog, 10 dogs in permanent foster for medical reasons, not for adoption - 3 horses, tortoises, rabbits, ferrets, chickens, and hogs that we've saved, but those are with us permanently as well.

Florida Mounted:
Florida Mounted is also a division of OHAR. FL Mounted works to help provide money for the animals, so we don't always have our hand out. Our 16 member group are all retired/former Law Enforcement, Military, Fire, and Support Personnel. All members are required to take at least a 40 hour Basic Mounted Unit Course, and the majority are all Mounted Unit Instructors backed by the Southern Police Institute in Louisville, Ky. We also put on classes for Mounted Civilian Units and Law Enforcement Mounted Units. Our members are extremely professional and have 1000's of hours working with horses and people. We provide security, parking cars, static displays, education, etc. If you would like to have our group at one of your events, please TEXT or call 352-843-2303 - preferably text, and we will do our best to assist you.

Our members and volunteers provide the momentum we need. Using community driven models, we take actions that make a long-lasting difference.
Some of what we seek to provide for every animal in our care is:
* A loving home that provides a stable environment
* Continual socialization with other animals and people.
* Quality nutrition and activity
* All necessary vet care
* Professional training if necessary
Your support and contributions will enable us to help these animals. Your generous donation will help community animals whose owners need a hand, spay/neuter/shots, our Equine Veteran and First Responder program, and much much more
